Printing fabrics.-Relates to means for guiding the blanket of a calico-printing machine in a straight path as it passes to and from the printing- machine and the washing or drying apparatus. As the blanket comes from the drying-cylinders &c. to the printing-machine, it is passed through a series of tension rods 3 mounted in side flanges 4 carried by rods 5 sliding in bearings 6. After leaving the printing-machine, it is passed over a roller 9 in bearings 10 mounted to slide vertically in brackets 11, and resting on rods 12 pivoted to bell-crank levers 13. The lower ends of the levers 13 engage pins on a bar 15 fixed on the flanges 4. Adjustable side guides 7, 8 engage the blanket as it passes through the rods 3. Any sideways movement of the blanket out of its proper path moves the rods 3 and 15 and racks the levers 13, whereupon one of the bearings 10 is raised and the other lowered, tilting the roller 9. This tends to bring back the blanket to its proper path. A single lever, as shown by dotted lines in Fig. 1, may be used in place of the levers 13. In a modification, the rods 3 are omitted, and the blanket passes between flanges carried by the bar 15.
