Improvements in Sterilising Apparatus for Use in Surgical Operations.

Реферат: 26,055. Leclerc, T. F. A. Dec. 9. Disinfecting.-Relates to apparatus for use in surgical operations to sterilize liquids, instruments, compresses, dressing-appliances, sponges, &c. A double-walled chamber C for sterilizing the instruments and dressings is closed by an asbestos-covered door, and is heated by hot gases passing through apertures i and between the double walls and out through l, from appliances D burning petroleum, gas, spirit, &c. These furnaces D are contained in drawers E, a handle G being provided for moving them in slide-ways, and doors F for ready regulation. Above the furnaces are basins or boilers H for sterilizing the liquids, instruments, and compresses. Basins L for the hands, compresses, or sponges are supported on a platform J alongside a basin H<1> supported on studs e over the chamber C, and adapted for containing water and carbolic acid. Hot gases pass through an aperture in the chamber C to the basin L, but are insulated from the basin H<1>. The basins H &c. may be placed on brackets f. The frame B of the chamber C is provided with a handle 0, and is either placed on the angle-irons h of the frame A for use, or inside the frame for transport, together with the drawers E which are packed upon the basins H, the lid P, which serves as a table, being turned down to enclose the whole. The basins &c. may be of copper, sheet iron, &c., and enamelled &c.
