Реферат: A sterilized medium for the cultivation of a micrococcin-producing micro-organism comprises one or more of the following substances in an aqueous medium, namely: corn steep liquor, Maggi's Bouillon Powder (gelatin, meat extract and hydrolysed casein), soya bean flour hydrolysate, meat meal hydrolysate and a yeast extract (or autolysate or distiller's residue containing yeast), carbohydrates being absent. The yeast extract may be a soluble yeast extract. Casein hydrolysate, fish meal hydrolysate and dried blood may also be present. The nitrogen concentration should be a minimum of 2400 mgms per litre. It is preferred to use a cultivation temperature of 30 DEG C., an initial pH of 6 to 7 and to ferment 2 to 4 days. Tri-amyl citrate may be used as antifoaming agent. The culture is aerated and stirred. Micrococcus NCTC 7128 is the microorganism cultivated in the examples.
