In other embodiments the hoop may be polygonal and join more than two bars using an appropriate number of wedges. If the wedge is driven between the hoop and a bar Fig. 10 a sliding and protecting wall 20 is inserted to prevent damage of the hoop. Two bars may be joined at right angles to each other by using a cruciform member 13, Fig. 10, the lugs 14 and 14' are secured to the bars 2 and 1 respectively by means of hoops 4 and wedges 5. Alternatively one bar may be clamped to another. by means of a. bridge member 17, Fig. 16, the ends 18 of which are secured to one of the bars by hoops and wedges.
