Hydraulic pumps.-Liquid is alternately admitted to the chamber 4 through ports 2, 3 in a fixed tube 18, and discharged through an aperture controlled by a valve 24. Air is admitted by a disc valve 29 and a piston plate 9 lifted from its seat, and discharged by a valve 6 in the plate to an outlet 8. The float. 5 in its uppermost position closes the air discharge valve 6 and lifts the plate 9 through the rod 11; this releases a catch 17, causing the piece 21 to lift and close the ports 2, 3, while the conical end 22 of the piece is raised from an opening in the valve 24, releasing the pressure on the valve and causing it to be opened by a spring 23. At the same time links 25, 26, Fig. 2. are pulled into line, raising a counterweighted arm 28 and holding the piece 21 up until the water falls to a level where the float strikes the counterweight. and reverses the valves.
