The plastics material may be polyamide, phenolic resin, polyfluorethylene or silicone rubber. The varnish may comprise graphite, polyamide and carbon fibre to render it self-lubricating. The layer may be one of e.g. platinum or copper oxide, so that it acts as a catalyst relative to the exhaust gases.
