Examples of a two dimensional puzzle toy are disclosed. The two dimensional puzzle toy can comprise a housing having an upper plate, a bottom plate and a means to connect the upper plate and the bottom plate to define an enclosed inner space of the housing. A plurality of elongated slots can be formed in the upper plate. Each of the elongated slots can have a lower end that is closed and an upper end. The upper end of the elongated slots are interconnected by a bridging slot thus forming a common passage therein between the plurality of elongated slots. A plurality of puzzle pieces with an exposed top surface can be mounted into the elongated slots. Each of the puzzle pieces can slide freely along the elongated slots and can shift from any elongated slot to any other elongated slot via the bridging slot. Each of the elongated slots is sized to receive a pre-determined number of puzzle pieces to fill up the elongated slot. The puzzle toy can further comprise a locking means that can be configured to adjust the size of a playing field by adjusting the number of the elongated slots in the playing field and/or a number of puzzle pieces in the elongated slots that are included in the playing field. By adjusting the size of the playing field one can adjust the level of difficulty of the puzzle toy. The puzzle pieces can further comprise a distinguishable line marking detachably placed on the exposed upper surface of the puzzle pieces. Each of the puzzle pieces can be independently rotatable around its vertical axis to change the orientation of the line marking and thus can form a variety of different path topologies. The bridging slot can be sized to form at least one resting space thereon so that at least one puzzle piece can park therein to move out of a pathway of another puzzle piece and thus allow rearrangement of the order of the puzzle pieces in the elongated slots.

The planar member is additionally provided with a non-slip resilient planar strip on one side thereof, so that when this side is positioned upwardly the washers are more easily tossed and maintained on the planar surface. By increasing the angle of inclination of the planar member and turning the slippery side upwards the difficulty of scoring can be increased. Each player alternatively tosses four washers in a round. All washers of one player which are closer to the hole than any of the washers of the other player score points. Three points are awarded for a washer passing through the hole; one point for other scoring washers. Additional rounds are played until one side achieves and wins with 21 points.
