As shown, a scoop 17 is pivotally supported by a chain 18 passing over a pulley 15 on a carriage 13 running on a main cable 10 secured to a spud at one end and a mast at the other end of the travel. A hauling-rope 35 is attached to a block 23 connected by a chain 26 with the scoop and by a chain 25 with the carriage. A tipping-rope 31 passes from the rear of the scoop over a pulley 16 on the carriage and round a pulley 28 on the block 23 to a block 33 sliding on the main cable. When the block 33 reaches an adjustable stop on the main cable, further hauling first moves the scoop forwards and then tips it. The tipping-rope carries a stop 34 which contacts with the carriage when the scoop is being filled.

A high-lead yarder rake is capable of clearing brush, timber, and other debris at a logging site when hauled just above the surface along a main line with a main line yarder. The rake has a generally rectangular frame having a top, a bottom, two sides, a vertical, central cross-member extending between the top and bottom, and a horizontal tine support extending between the sides. A plurality of tines are mounted on the tine support to extend downwardly to rest against the frame's bottom and to project downwardly from the bottom as teeth. Additional support members may be used to strengthen the tine support. A riser extension may be added above the top to further increase the volume which the rake may hold. A method for using the rake to clear a site is also disclosed.

The system includes a material lifting machine configured to both: (1) excavate and remove overburden from an open pit of a mine; and (2) excavate and remove valuable material from the open pit. In electric DC drive by means of setting device 17 angular speed setting equal to rated angular speed of electric motor is always set. In the initial moment of the drive operation, a restriction corresponding to the cable pulling current is installed in the controlled limitation unit 11. When control button 7 in unit 11 is switched on, maximum current limitation value is set. As a result, current and electromagnetic motor torque proportional to it increase sharply. This results in withdrawal of retainer 23 and opening of bottom 22 of bucket 24 of excavator. Current of armature winding 16 is increased up to value exceeding moment of resistance of mechanism holding retainer 23. Sharp reduction of load and, hence, current of electric motor is performed after pulling of retainer 23. Bottom 22 of ladle 24 opens under action of content and rock is unloaded. At that, electric drive only winds cable 20 on drum 19 at low load. When the current reaches the threshold level specified by threshold element 2, a constraint corresponding to the pull-up current of the cable is set in the controlled limitation unit 11.
