Gear wheel machining fixture - has two cutter spindles with cutter head moving at angles

The machine tool fixture is used to machine the teeth profile on gear wheels. It comprises two cutter spindles and related mechanisms. The cutter head can be moved through different axes and traversed into and out of the workpiece. The workpiece (16) is revolved by a separate drive motor (17) and worm gear (18). All three units are linked and controlled by a C.N.C. unit (19). ADVANTAGE - Separate drive motors allows faster cutter speeds with consequent higher production rates. It also allows grinding wheels to be employed.
