METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR REMOVING UNPOLYMERIZED GASEOUS MONOMER FROM OLEFIN POLYMER
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for removing unpolymerized monomer from a solid olefin polymer containing the monomer. SOLUTION: This apparatus for removing unreacted monomer from a solid polyolefin polymer consists of a purge vessel 7 having a ratio of the height to the diameter of the bottom of 0.5:1 to 10:1, having a tapered wall, this wall having a taper angle of 0.5-15 degrees; a solid discharge element 12 disposed on the bottom of the purge vessel 7; a solid receiving hopper 2; a gas-permeable solid-impenetrable restricting means 6 disposed below a feed means and confining the upper limit of the expanded solid floor and confining a gas collection chamber 5 between the top of the purge vessel and the restricting means; a gas introducing means 10 disposed within or below the floor of the expanded solid; and a gas discharging means 14 for discharging gases from the chamber and disposed in communication with the gas collection chamber. This method comprises using this apparatus. COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
