A matting surface (2) having a first flooring member (4) and a second flooring member (6) is disclosed. The first flooring member (4) is substantially parallel to the second flooring member (6). Both flooring members (4, 6) have an end with an extending tabular member (24, 32) and a grooved end (26, 34) that is structured to slideably receive the extending tabular end (24, 32) of an adjacent flooring member (28, 36) thereby forming a joint between the flooring members (4, 6) and the adjacent flooring members (28, 36).
