A quick release fastening system associated with wearable articles is disclosed. The quick release fastening system includes a hook and loop fastener and a pull cord. A quick release of the fastening system can be accomplished with a frontal pull of the pull cord, which disengages the hook and loop fastener. Some embodiments provide reflective safety apparel that combines passive illuminating elements with active illuminating elements for improved nighttime visibility. A pair of fiberglass plates formed using the present method are thereafter inserted within a vest that has a front and a back receiving pocket. The invention features methods and devices for controlling bleeding from blood vessels that may be damaged as a result of trauma or impact with an object, such as a bullet or shrapnel. The device may be wearable by a user and include one or more components, such as wound sealant and multiple inflatable balloons/bladders. The device may be integrated into a garment, e.g., a vest, jacket, trousers, or full body suit. Once triggered (automatically or manually), the device may be used to deliver wound sealant to a wound site and/or pressure to the wound site by selective inflation of one or more balloons over exsanguinating blood vessels that may be damaged, thereby stopping or minimizing the bleeding. Alternatively, or in addition, the device may be used to stabilize a wounded wearer for, e.g., transportation purposes, or to provide buoyancy. An immobilization device includes one or more pillars with multiple segments that protect the head and spine of a user. By design, when the pillars of the invented system are not activated and the system is in normal use, the pillars are designed to be as flexible as possible and allow full physiologic motion of the protected body part. A spike resistant package comprising:a pouch, wherein the pouch having an inner surface and an outer surface;a first grouping of spike resistant textile layers, wherein the grouping has a first side, a second side, and comprises plurality of spike resistant textile layers, wherein each spike resistant textile layer comprises a plurality of interwoven yarns or fibers having a tenacity of about 14 or more grams per denier; and,a slip layer, wherein the slip layer has a thickness of less than about 0.1 mm, a stiffness of less than about 0.01 N-m, and a static coefficient of friction (COF) between the slip layer and the second side of the first grouping of less than about 0.40, wherein the slip layer is located on the second side of the grouping of spike resistant textile layers, wherein the pouch essentially fully encapsulates the grouping of spike resistant textile layers and the slip layer, and wherein the slip layer and the inner surface of the pouch are in direct and intimate contact.2. A garment can include at least one opening that allows the garment to be opened up such that a restraint mechanism can be easily secured to a user when opened. The at least one opening can include left and right openings that extend from a bottom most periphery of a torso portion and along respective sleeves of the garment. The garment can be combined with a child seat for use in a vehicle. Each of the openings can either extend entirely through an outermost portion of a respective sleeve cuff or be stoppable immediately adjacent the cuff such that the cuff remains in annular form during use. A method for using the garment and system includes placing a user into a seat while the user is wearing the garment and then attaching the restraint mechanism to the user via the at least one opening of the garment. 1.
