The needles may be curved. A guidewire may be used to guide the suture thread. The suture feed may be a bobbin of suture thread. Actuating the handle moves the needles from an open to a closed position and a series of sprockets moves the guidewire to pick up the suture thread and move from one needle to the other (see figure 10). By this combined product regimen it will be possible to obtain maximal local antibacterial effect of acid degradable antibiotics, as well as enhanced bioavailability of the active antibiotic, thus resulting in higher amounts of the active compound in the gastric mucosa due to secretion of weak bases. Both pharmacological effects contribute to drastically increased antimicrobial capacity of acid degradable antibiotics to be used against local infections in the gastrointentinal tract causing gastritis and/or peptic ulcer. A method of bone repair of a small joint , comprising:providing a suture passing K-wire in the vicinity of a first bone and of a second bone of a small joint, the suture passing K-wire comprising a tapered guide pin having a first region with a first diameter and terminating in a sharp tip, and a second region with a second diameter and terminating in an eyelet, the second diameter being smaller than the first diameter;passing a flexible strand through the eyelet of the K-wire;inserting the K-wire into the first bone and advancing the K-wire from the first bone to the second bone; andpassing the flexible strand through the first and second bones.2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the step of advancing the K-wire into the first and second bones is conducted simultaneously with the step of passing the flexible strand through the first and second bones.3.
