Some embodiments of a catheter device fuirther include one or more tissue apposition members near the distal end for helping bring PFO tissues together, such as a PFO covering member, a vacuum applying member and/or the like. PFO closure via energy-based approaches of the invention may help prevent stroke, treat migraine headache, and possibly treat or prevent other medical conditions.

A medical device includes a balloon member, a port that couples a compartment interior of the balloon member to a region exterior of the balloon member, and a tubular member that defines a lumen. A distal end of the tubular member is attached to an internal surface of the balloon member within the compartment so that a portion of the internal surface of the balloon member provides a seal at a distal end of the lumen. The tubular member passes through the port, and the proximal end of the tubular member is configured to remain exterior of the compartment. A delivery of a sufficient amount of a filling material into the lumen of the tubular member causes a length of the tubular member to pass through the port and into the balloon compartment.

The invention generally relates to intraluminal procedures, and, more particularly, to a contra-rotating cutting assembly for use with an atherectomy device to remove occlusive material from an occluded lumen, such as a blood vessel or other body lumen. The contra-rotating cutting assembly includes a rotatable housing having a distal end, an opposing proximal end and a lumen extending between the distal and proximal ends. The housing is configured to rotate about a longitudinal axis in a first direction. The cutting assembly further includes a rotatable cutter head positioned within at least a portion of the lumen of the housing and in coaxial alignment with the housing. The cutter head is configured to rotate about the longitudinal axis in a second direction opposite the first direction. 1. A contra-rotatable cutting assembly for cutting occlusive material from within a body lumen , said cutting assembly comprising:a rotatable housing having a distal end, an opposing proximal end and a lumen extending between the distal and proximal ends, said housing configured to rotate about a longitudinal axis in a first direction; anda rotatable cutter head positioned within at least a portion of the lumen of said housing and in coaxial alignment with said housing, said cutter head configured to rotate about said longitudinal axis in a second direction opposite the first direction.2. The cutting assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a contra-rotation gear assembly positioned within said housing and configured to drive rotation of at least said housing in response to rotation of said cutter head.3. An orthopedic impactor device for positioning an orthopedic prosthetic cup implant during a hip replacement surgery is described. The impactor comprises a distal prosthetic cup engagement portion which is separated from a proximal strike plate by an elongated housing and handle.
