A charging system of a mobile vehicle and a method for operating the same are provided to receive and convert an external AC source into a DC source for charging the mobile vehicle. First, a high DC voltage is outputted through a charging apparatus. Finally, the DC power conversion apparatus is controlled through a vehicle controller to provide the desired charging current for the rechargeable battery. The DC power conversion apparatus is installed in the mobile vehicle so that the rechargeable battery is protected by the DC power conversion apparatus. In addition, an adaptive charging manner is provided according to operating conditions of the rechargeable battery, thus increasing charging reliability, security, and speed.

The ECU sets the stepped-up voltage, based on a temperature characteristic of the power storage device and a temperature characteristic of the inverter, so that the stepped-up voltage is increased within a range in which the stepped-up voltage does not exceed the withstand voltage. In this way, at low temperatures, deterioration of the power performance can be suppressed while the switching elements are protected.

Accordingly, it is possible to achieve reduction in the size and cost of the power unit and enhance the driving efficiency of the power unit.

A multi-port reconfigurable battery has at least one bank of statically joined series connected battery cells, each including a positive and negative pole connected through switches to respective output connections on at least one port. Processor controlled switches reconfigure the cells to provide power for electrical loads on one or more ports and simultaneously provide charging on one or more other ports. An alternative configuration divides groups of series connected cells into separate battery banks that permit other configurations. Applications include selectable motor speed control and battery regeneration schemes matched to motor output, and single or multiphase AC power output at selectable frequencies for use as an Uninterruptible Power Supply. As a result, determination of energization mode switching timing based on a pulse induced voltage can be performed more stably.

By having individual cell resistance values—instead of using an overall pack resistance value and building in a buffer to account for cell variations—better and more accurate cell-level data can be obtained that, in turn, can improve charging, discharging, cell balancing and/or other battery-related processes.

Also, some heating of the tire due to electrical losses may enhance traction and tread performance on snowy or wet roads. The vehicle is provided with a reversible dc step-up/step-down transformer, two current sensors, two voltage sensors, a vehicle speed sensor, a speed sensor for one of the electric motors and a control system, wherein one or several reversible converters are connected directly to the terminals of the reversible power supply. The supercapacitor is connected to the terminals via the reversible transformer. The ballast resistor, parallel-connected to a bypass diode, is connected in series with a discharge key to the same terminals. One sensor indicates the current value and direction of the reversible power supply, the second sensor takes measurements of coil (inductance choke) current being a component of the transformer. One voltage sensor measures the voltage at the capacitor terminals. The outputs of the aforesaid sensors, together with the output of the speed sensor, are connected to the inputs of the control system, the outputs of which are connected to the control inputs of the transformer and a discharge key. The technical result is a reduction in energy loss as a result of the increased use of recovered energy.
