A longitudinal rail guide of a motor vehicle seat having a bottom rail, with a top rail which is movable in longitudinal direction relative to the bottom rail and with a locking device. The locking device has a guide part which is disposed on the top rail and has at least one guide opening, and for each guide opening there is a blocking part which is disposed so as to be movable in the guide opening. This invention relates to a system and method of armed forces vehicle seating which reduces the potential for injury to occupants when the vehicle is subjected to a mine or similar explosive device. The seats are ceiling or wall mounted and include a trailing arm which allows for deflection while providing stability. A seat element for accommodating an occupant is provided together with a suspension system connecting the seat element to the platform block. The suspension system includes a resilient member having an equilibrium condition to which the resilient member is biased to return if it extends beyond, retracts below or otherwise varies away from the equilibrium condition. 1. A seat for a vehicle , the seat comprising:a support for attachment to an aspect of a vehicle;a platform block for secure attachment to the support;a seat element for accommodating an occupant; anda suspension system connecting the seat element to the platform block, the suspension system including a resilient member having an equilibrium condition which the resilient member is biased to return to if it extends beyond or retracts below the equilibrium condition.2.
