One way valves 4 and 5 lead to the interior and exterior of the dinghy, and the pump is operated by using a handle 9 to expand and contract the chamber. Resilient reticulated foam inserts 6, 7, 8 bias the chamber to its expanded condition with such a force that the floor in the region of the pump can be depressed by acting on the handle 9 while the chamber 1 remains expanded. The pump can thus always draw water from the lowest point of the dinghy floor. The pump is located to lie between the thighs of an occupant so that ease of operation is assured.

FLUID CONTROL SYSTEM WITH AUTONOMOUSLY CONTROLLED VALVES

Номер: CA0002351560C
Принадлежит: LOCKHEED MARTIN CORPORATION

A plurality of autonomously controlled valves in a fluid distribution system are interconnected by a data communication network. The system also includes fluid flow sensors which report to the system by way of the network. The autonomous controllers include information as to their neighbors or environment sufficient to determine malfunctions such as a leak or break in an associated path, and can take autonomous action. The actions are established by the autonomous controllers regardless of the existence of a connection to the network, so that even if the network connection fails or is damaged, the valve can still respond to its own flow sensor with predetermined actions.

A method and apparatus for treating water such as ballast water in ships in order to eliminate aquatic organisms in the water. The water is led under pressure through a conduit into a chamber of greater cross-section than that of the conduit so that an abrupt reduction in pressure occurs. Cavitation ensues, leading to the release of dissolved gases. Ultrasonic vibration is generated and is applied to the water, exerting a pounding effect that weakens or destroys the organisms present. Other means may be used to generate further mechanical, electrical, and chemical forces in the water which attack the organisms.

A thruster assembly that in addition to propulsion provides water flow to/from compartments and systems on board a vessel. In a first position, the thruster assembly provides propulsion/steering. Pivoted to a second position, operation of the thruster in a first direction draws a flow into the vessel and in a second direction draws a flow out of the vessel. The flows may be conveyed to/from compartments/systems on board the vessel via conduits in communication with a chamber having an opening through which the thruster drives the flows. The flows may be used to submerge/surface the vessel, or to provide systems cooling or serve other functions. Pivoted to a third position the thruster assembly is retracted and enclosed within the chamber to form a hydrodynamically clean exterior.

STATIC BILGE PUMP

Номер: US20170191504A1
Автор: Palmisano Doug
Принадлежит:

A static bilge pump has a body surrounded by a shell, forming a motive plenum therebetween. Inlets in the front of the shell allow a motive fluid to enter the motive plenum. The motive plenum tapers, decreasing in cross-sectional area along with width as it moves toward its aft, and ends at a motive nozzle. The body houses a suction chamber in fluid communication with a suction inlet that is in fluid communication with the bilge of a boat. Ejectors are positioned proximal to and between the motive nozzle and the discharge outlet. When the static bilge pump is exposed to fluid flow from its front to its stern, such as when a boat is in motion, water enters the motive inlets, filling the motive Plenum and acting as a motive fluid. The motive fluid is ejected at high pressure from the motive nozzle, creating suction at the ejectors and discharging the motive fluid as well as liquid with in the suction chamber out the discharge outlet. 1.
