En référence à la figure pour l'abrégé (figure 1), ce dispositif est constitué des principaux éléments suivants : une base (1) conçue pour reprendre les efforts du gréement et pour pouvoir pivoter autour d'un axe vertical, deux mâts (2) en appui sur la base, une barre de flèche (3) reliant les mâts, quatre haubans (4) reliant les mâts et la base de façon rendre l'ensemble géométriquement stable, les organes de contrôle (5) des éléments mobiles du gréement et de la voilure. A support stay runs from the horseshoe-shaped member to the bearing supported member to support the horseshoe-shaped member. Additional stays are attached to the horseshoe-shaped member and splayed to attach to opposed sides of the hull of the watercraft. The sail is reefed around the mast through the open end of the horseshoe-shaped member.

Bei herkömmlichen Konstruktionen zum Aufspannen von Segelflächen bildet der Mast oftmals die Anströmkante der Hauptsegelfläche, wobei für das Mastprofil ein Kompromiss zwischen hoher Tragfähigkeit und guter aerodynamischer Ausformung gefunden werden muss. Bei Segelfahrzeugen mit konstruktiv aufgerichteten Segelflächen wird zum Verändern und Fixieren der Segelstellung mindestens eine Schot verwendet. Durch den Holepunkt für die Schot an Deck des Segelfahrzeuges sind die Segelflächen nicht frei drehbar. Dadurch ist z. B. das Schwenken der Segelfläche über den Bug des Segelfahrzeuges bei der Halse nicht möglich. Die erfindungsgemäße Konstruktion bildet einen Rahmen um die aufzuspannende Segelfläche und erfordert dadurch keine Bauteile im Luftstrom auf die Anströmkante der Segelfläche. Dadurch können die Segelflächen ungehindert angeströmt werden. In der Zeichnung ist das Segel (14) zwischen den Seitenmasten (12) aufgespannt, wodurch das Vorliek (14a) ungehindert vom Wind angeströmt werden kann. Die konstruktiv aufgerichtete Segelfläche ist drehbar gelagert und kann bei der Halse über den Bug geschwenkt werden. Durch Sperren der Drehbarkeit kann die Segelstellung auch ohne Schot fixiert werden. A submersible vessel having wing and keel assemblies that are extendable for wind-powered surface operation and retractable to reduce drag for submerged operation or to place the vessel in a more compact configuration. A deployment mechanism including an actuator and linkage pivots the wing and keel assemblies simultaneously between the deployed and retracted configuration. The vessel may have first and second pressure hulls flanking the wing and keel assemblies. A drive mechanism including a motor and a gear train employing pulley-and-cable assemblies rotates either the wing and flap together such that the flap angle relative to the wing is constant, or to change the flap angle relative to the wing with the wing angle of incidence held constant. The invention also provides a retractable wind-powered propulsion apparatus that is mountable to the hull assembly of a submersible or non-submersible vessel. 1. A submersible vessel , comprising:a hull assembly;a wing assembly comprising at least one substantially rigid wing member;a keel assembly comprising at least one keel member; anda deployment mechanism comprising at least one actuator and a linkage interconnecting said wing assembly and said keel assembly, that in response to operation of said actuator pivots said wing assembly and said keel assembly simultaneously between the (i) a deployed configuration in which said wing assembly and said keel assembly extend outwardly above and below said hull assembly for wind-powered surfaced operation of said vessel and (ii) retracted configuration in which said wing assembly and said keel assembly are angled back towards said hull assembly to reduce drag for submerged operation of said vessel.2. Rotation of the mast causes the battens connected to one of the sail portions to be compressed along their length so as to bend one of the sail portions to increase the camber thereof and causes the battens connected of the other sail portions to be tensioned along their length so as to partly straighten the other sail portion which changes the shape of an aerofoil formed by the sail. on, each flexible sail portion having a luff and a leach, wherein the luff of each sail portion is connected to a respective side of the mast; and a plurality of elongated battens, each of which extends substantially between the luff and the leach of one of the respective sail portions, each of which is in contact with the respective flexible sail portion. The invention relates to a sailing rig system (SRS) for a sailing ship comprising one or more airfoil sails comprising one or more sail defining frames including at least three airfoil sail shape-defining edges and/or at least theree airfoil sail shape-defining corners. The sail may be controllable, rotatable, pivotable, trimmable, reefable, stowable, slidable, windable, guidable, coaxial, weathervaning, wind/sun tracking, freestanding; it may provide cambering, reinforcing, sealing, boundary layer control, shielding means, sections and connections and it may be transparent. The frame may be a closable/deployable rotor sail frame. The frame may include rig components and the SRS may further comprise vertical/oblique/horizontal spars coupled with spar couplings. It may further comprise lateral, fore-and-aft, superposed sails, actuators, power generators, power sources, thermal management systems, defined rotor sails. It may provide sail twist. It may be coupled with a sailing ship with defined ship couplings. A sailing method is proposed.
