Hydrogenation of this resin produces light colored, thermally stable products that are useful as tackifiers in adhesives.

The raw elastomeric composition in free-flowing pellets form thus obtained can be used as an adhesive composition, in asphalt modification and in asphalt emulsions.

The procedure is using solvent to dissolve petroleum resin and styrene-butadiene rubber first. Then add filler to stir properly. During production, the temperature must be controlled under 40 t. In order to make VOC content <70 g/L, we choose methyl acetate, cyclohexane, and acetone as raw materials. Methyl acetate and acetone are exempt solvent in Californian Rule 102 SCAQMD. A raw elastomeric composition in free-flowing pellet form is described, which comprises a raw elastomer with molecular weight from 50,000 to 400,000 Da, and an anti-block agent comprising inorganic fillers, capable of forming emulsions in water. Likewise, a process for obtaining said raw elastomeric compositions in free-flowing pellet form, comprising the steps of: a) polymerizing at least one monomer through solution polymerization in order to obtain elastomer crumb; b) forming an aqueous suspension of the elastomer crumbs; c) dewatering the aqueous suspension; d) adding an anti-block agent comprising inorganic fillers capable of forming emulsions in water; e) drying the dewatered suspension; and f) pelletizing the elastomer to form a raw elastomeric composition in free-flowing pellets form. The raw elastomeric composition in free-flowing pellets form thus obtained can be used as an adhesive composition, in asphalt modification and in asphalt emulsions. 1. A modified asphalt of the type comprising asphalt and an elastomer , wherein the elastomer is a raw elastomeric composition in free-flowing pellet form comprising:a) a raw elastomer with molecular weight from 50,000 to 400,000 Da; and,b) from 1 to 15% by total weight of an anti-block agent comprising inorganic fillers, capable of forming emulsions in water.2. The modified asphalt of claim 1 , wherein the elastomer is selected between Solution-SBR claim 1 , Emulsion-SBR claim 1 , SB di-block copolymers and tapered triblock copolymers.3. The modified asphalt of claim 2 , wherein the elastomer is a styrene-butadiene copolymer with butadiene content higher than 60% weight/weight.4. A hot melt adhesive composition exhibiting excellent adhesive strength and which is useful as an adhesive for styrene resins contains (B) tackifier and (C) ethylene/C3-C20 alpha-olefin/aromatic vinyl compound random copolymer and, in some embodiments also (A) base polymer, such as polyolefin, polar group-containing polymer and aromatic vinyl compound/conjugated diene copolymer. A low molecular weight polyolefin may also be included in all embodiments. The randon copolymer (C) may be prepared by polymerizing the alpha-olefin and aromatic vinyl compound in the presence of a metallocene containing catalyst. In addition to excellent adhesive strength the hot melt adhesives have improved workability.

The modified thermoplastic resins are modified by decreasing the relative quantity of the dimer, trimer, tetramer, and pentamer oligomers as compared to the corresponding unmodified thermoplastic resin polymers, resulting in a product that exhibits a greater shift in the glass transition temperature of the elastomer(s) used in tire formulations. This translates to better viscoelastic predictors of tire tread performance, such as wet grip and rolling resistance. The modified thermoplastic resins impart remarkable properties on various rubber compositions, such as tires, belts, hoses, brakes, and the like. Automobile tires incorporating the modified thermoplastic resins are shown to possess excellent results in balancing the properties of rolling resistance, tire wear, snow performance, and wet braking performance.

The modified thermoplastic resins are modified by decreasing the relative quantity of the dimer, trimer, tetramer, and pentamer oligomers as compared to the corresponding unmodified thermoplastic resin polymers, resulting in a product that exhibits a greater shift in the glass transition temperature of the elastomer(s) used in tire formulations. This translates to better viscoelastic predictors of tire tread performance, such as wet grip and rolling resistance. The modified thermoplastic resins impart remarkable properties on various rubber compositions, such as tires, belts, hoses, brakes, and the like. Automobile tires incorporating the modified thermoplastic resins are shown to possess excellent results in balancing the properties of rolling resistance, tire wear, snow performance, and wet braking performance.

An adhesive composition of the present invention comprises: one or two or more rubber selected from the group consisting of nitrile rubber, natural rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber, butyl rubber, nitrile butadiene rubber, and styrene isoprene styrene rubber; 3 to 10 parts by weight of tackifier; 5 to 10 parts by weight of resin having a hydroxyl group; 1 to 5 parts by weight of phenol resin; 10 to 20 parts by weight of oxidation stabilizer; and 1 to 10 parts by weight of fine particles, with respect to 100 parts by weight of the rubber. The adhesive composition and double-sided tape for fixing a battery of the present invention are excellent in adhesion to an aluminum laminate sheet used as a battery pouch, are not only useful for fixing a battery, but also have excellent reliability, such as maintaining the adhesive performance for a certain period of time even under a high temperature and high humidity environment, and have improved impact resistance and durability.
