A restoring force may be exerted on the stepped piston 19 by a spring 37 which abuts against an annular collar 29 on the piston 19.

The moveable member may comprise a barometer bellows with an internal pressure substantially lower than atmospheric and may cooperate with biasing spring members. Connection between the pressure chamber and the air inlet manifold may include a valve affected by exhaust gas composition or engine temperature.

A pulsation damper mounted in a fuel chamber ( 23 ) of a high-pressure fuel pump ( 20 ) is provided with a diaphragm ( 11 ) having a flat section ( 11 a ) displaced when fuel pressure is applied thereto, a pump cover ( 10 ) for supporting the diaphragm ( 11 ), and a gas chamber ( 12 ) formed by the diaphragm ( 11 ) and the pump cover ( 10 ). Pressure pulsation occurring in the fuel chamber ( 23 ) is suppressed by displacement of the flat section ( 11 a ). The diaphragm ( 11 ) is formed in a closed-bottomed tubular shape with the flat section ( 11 a ) located at the bottom and has a projection ( 11 b ) provided to the periphery of the flat section ( 11 a ) and projecting to the side opposite to the pump cover ( 10 ). A tubular peripheral section extending from the outer periphery of the projection ( 11 b ) so as to be vertical to the flat section ( 11 a ) is fitted over the pump cover ( 10 ). The externally fitting portion of the tubular peripheral section is a joint section ( 11 c ) joined to the pump cover ( 10 ).

An object of the invention is to provide a fuel supply pump that improves the lubricity of a plunger that reciprocates on the inner circumference of a cylinder in order to suppress sticking of the plunger that may occur with increasing pressure of fuel. A fuel supply pump includes a plunger that reciprocates in an inner peripheral portion of a cylinder, and a pressurizing chamber that is pressurized by the plunger. An annular groove is formed on an outer periphery of the plunger. The annular groove is located closer to the pressurizing chamber than an axial center position of a cylinder sliding region at the bottom dead center position. 1. A fuel supply pump , comprising:a plunger that reciprocates in an inner peripheral portion of a cylinder; anda pressurizing chamber that is pressurized by the plunger,wherein an annular groove is formed on an outer periphery of the plunger, andwherein the annular groove is located closer to the pressurizing chamber than an axial center position of a cylinder sliding region at a bottom dead center position.2. The fuel supply pump according to claim 1 , wherein only one annular groove is formed on an outer peripheral portion of the plunger.3. The fuel supply pump according to claim 2 , wherein the annular groove is located at a bottom dead center position between an axial center position of a plunger sliding region and the axial center position of the cylinder sliding region.4. The fuel supply pump according to claim 2 , wherein the annular groove has a first tapered surface inclined toward a side of the pressurizing chamber with respect to a radial direction and a second tapered surface inclined toward a side opposite to the pressurizing chamber with respect to the radial direction.5.
