Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Überprüfen des Beladungsgewichtes eines LKW auf Zulässigkeit mittels einer dynamischen Fahrzeugwaage mit mehreren hintereinander angeordneten Wägezellen und einem Fahrzeugerkennungssystem. Zur Ermöglichung einer raschen Auswertung der beim Überfahren der Waage ermittelten Daten wird durch das Fahrzeugerkennungssystem der Fahrzeugtyp ermittelt und danach werden die durch die dynamische Fahrzeugwaage ermittelten Achsdruckdaten mit jenen dem Fahrzeugtyp zugeordneten Daten verglichen. Damit ist es möglich, ohne sofortige Einsichtnahme in die Autopapiere zu ermitteln, ob das für diesen Fahrzeugtyp zulässige Gesamtgewicht überschritten ist oder nicht.

A treadle switch assembly (10) includes at least one elongated treadle (12, 14) of a compressible, resilient material containing a hollow passageway (24) throughout its length. A system for detecting an object located on a travelling path even in bad weather or during nighttime in which conducting wires having a predetermined impedance value are laid along a travelling path, and a signal is supplied to the conducting wires from a signal source. If a vehicle exists on the path, the impedance of the conducting wires changes at the position where the vehicle is present. A signal reflected from the impedance change position is detected by a detector. The position of the vehicle can be determined from the timing of the received reflection signal. It is also possible to detect a vehicle changing lanes or the like by means of a plurality of conductive wires laid along the travelling path. Instead of a conducting wire, an optical fiber may be provided for determining the position of a vehicle using the refractive index change in the optical fiber due to the weight of the vehicle.

Therefore, the number of the WIM sensors installed is maximized in comparison with a limited space, and each component is modularized to be coupled by a bolt. So, the traffic information collecting system using the load detecting device facilitates installation, inspection, and replacement of equipment.

The traffic e.g. passing down a feed road to a motorway, is monitored by a thin narrow plate (1) of metal or plastics, extending across the width of th traffic lane. The plate (1) has a number of parallel longitudinal slots (2), of trapezoid section, in which individual detectors (6) are push-fitted, each detector (6) comprising a rubber tube, closed at both ends. The upper and lower inside faces of each tube are provided with contact blades, so that they contact one another when the tube is depressed upon the passage of a vehicle over it. The contacts are connected to a recording unit for counting the traffic flow.
