The fuse refresh circuit may be configured to refresh the states of the latches using states of the array of fuses in response to receiving an operating trigger signal generated by the analog trigger circuit or a logic trigger signal generated by the logic trigger circuit. The first plurality of latches may be used to generate a threshold voltage that is provided to the comparator.

The secondary battery is charged by the predetermined value output of the DC/DC converter. Even when there is no charger, the secondary battery can be charged by the primary batteries and charging power sources are automatically switched.

Parameters of a cell are monitored to determine when the cell should be disconnected from the pack in case of a fault. The battery is reconfigured to continue operating in a safer mode. An over-charging prevention system reduces the maximum voltage that remaining battery pack can be charged to, so that the cells do not overcharge. Additional circuitry allows the disconnected cell to be periodically reconnected to the battery pack to determine if its conditions have sufficiently improved. The cells also include components for self-powering these cell functions while it is disconnected from the rest of the circuit.

In a second embodiment, individual batteries 34 and appliances 18 - 26 are connected within a network configuration allowing anything to be connected to anything else. Battery 10 segments can be created, each having one or more allocated individual batteries and each segment connected to selectable services 12 18 - 26 within the electric vehicle. Segmentation patterns can be changed. A segment charge allocation profile can be used within each segment in much the same way that the charge allocation profile can be used and changed for the first embodiment. A method for wireless charging power control is disclosed. In a wireless charging system, a wireless radio frequency (RF) charging signal transmitted by a wireless charging station is harvested and converted to a direct-current (DC) charging signal to charge a battery. To prevent overcharging damage to the battery, an effective charging power in the DC charging signal is measured and compared to a target charging power required by the battery. A battery charging signal indication (BCSI) is provided to the wireless charging station to decrease the effective charging power if the effective charging power is greater than the target charging power, or to increase the effective charging power if the effective charging power is less than the target charging power. By dynamically adjusting the effective charging power, it is possible to provide fast charging to the battery while protecting the battery from overcharging damage.

A battery charging method comprising:charging a battery in a first charging step, wherein charging current in the first charging step is constant charging current;in response to a condition being satisfied, changing from the first charging step to a second charging step, wherein the condition comprises a first condition in which a battery overpotential of the battery is greater than or equal to a threshold voltage; andcharging the battery in the second charging step, wherein charging current in the second charging step is constant charging current,wherein the battery is continually charged during the changing of the first charging step to the second charging step.2. The battery charging method of claim 1 , wherein an intensity of a charging current in the second charging step is less than an intensity of a charging current in the first charging step.3. The battery charging method of claim 1 , further comprising selecting the first charging step from a plurality of first charging steps based on a measured voltage of the battery.4. The battery charging method of claim 1 , further comprising:measuring a voltage of the battery before the charging of the battery in the first charging step; andselecting the first charging step from a plurality of charging steps in response to the measured voltage being greater than a voltage corresponding to the first charging step, and the measured voltage being less than a voltage corresponding to the second charging step.5.
