A detergent dispenser controller for use with a washing device, such as a dishwasher, that measures detergent concentration in a water tank by measuring the conductivity of the detergent solution in the water tank. The detergent controller automatically learns the feed rate of the detergent dispenser used, regardless of the type of detergent dispenser being used. For each detergent feed cycle, the controller computes a Feed Factor equal to the amount of detergent feed on time required for each unit increase in the detergent concentration, which is the inverse of the detergent feed rate. The controller stores the computed Feed Factor for the last N feed cycles in a non-volatile memory, and computes a running average of the N feed factors stored in the non-volatile memory. Whenever the detergent dispenser is powered on, it determines the difference between the measured wash tank detergent concentration and a specified detergent concentration set point value. The computed average feed factor and the difference between the set point and the current detergent concentration are multiplied to compute a detergent feed on time. The detergent dispenser is then turned on for the computed feed on time, and after a suitable subsequent mixing period, the change in detergent concentration during the last feed cycle is determined and a new Feed Factor is computed and stored. The detergent concentration is preferably measured using logarithmic measurement units, and separate Feed Factors may be computed and used for at least two detergent concentration ranges.

The present invention is directed to a desuperheater spraying valve assembly. More particularly, the invention provides a new and improved valve assembly, whereby cooling liquid may be controllably injected into a gas or a liquid stream, typically steam, to selectively maintain the gas or liquid at a predetermined temperature level. In a possible embodiment of the present invention, a class V valve assembly is disclosed. It comprises an actuator coupled to a plug with a valve seat in the proximity of said plug. The plug is affixed to an actuator rod which transverses the body of the valve assembly. A spray tube may be affixed to said valve seat and at least one spray nozzle is affixed to a to the spray tube. Abstract Method and Apparatus for producing a water-in-fuel-emulsion and emulsifier-free water-in-fuel-emulsion. The apparatus for generating a fuel water emulsion for the operation of an injection pump, particularly that of a diesel motor, comprising a rotationally symmetric vortex chamber (1) with a tangential inlet and a tapering axial outlet. In order to generate a fine homogeneous emulsion in collodial state, having a size of the suspended water droplets of 1000 nm or less, the axial end portion of the vortex chamber (1) facing away from the outlet is surrounded by a ring channel (7) running coaxially to the vortex chamber (1), the ring channel (7) being connected to the vortex chamber (1) via inlet slots (9) which are tangentially aligned to it and in which a fuel inlet channel (8) tangentially ends. An electromagnetically controlled water injection nozzle (10) leads into the end portion of the vortex chamber (1) at the inlet side thereof. The outlet (2) of the vortex chamber (1) opens via an enlargement (3) into a suction chamber (4) of a radial wheel (5) which is arranged in a pump chamber (12) having an outlet channel (13) in the area of the circumference of the radial wheel (5) to which a forward conduit leading to the injection pump and a recirculation conduit leading to an emulsion inlet channel (15) are connectable which also ends tangentially into the ring channel (7). An intake channel (16), to which a return conduit coming from the injection pump is connectable, leads into the suction chamber (4) of the radial wheel (5). (Fig. 1)

A mixing apparatus comprises two or more tubs in which mixtures can be mixed to obtain averaging of a particular property, such as density. Two recirculation lines are used. One recirculates between an initial mixing tub and a mixing inlet, and the other recirculates from the additional, secondary averaging tub(s) and the mixing inlet. Computer control responds to densities of fluids recirculated through both of the recirculation lines. In a preferred embodiment, the computer is also responsive to pressure of one of the inlet substances. In response to these measured inputs and other data entered through a data entry terminal, the computer generates control signals for controlling the inputs of both of two inlet substances. In a preferred embodiment, the apparatus and a corresponding method utilize displacement tanks both as averaging tubs and as conventional displacement tanks.

The tube has an elongate radially opening circumferentially and longitudinally extending anti-syphon slot opening pitch counter to the vortex flow of liquids whereby those liquids flow substantially laterally across the opening within the tube.

A mixing system is disclosed in which the system comprises a source of bone-graft or bone-graft-substitute material, a liquid source, and a vacuum source, at least one of the source of bone-graft or bone-graft-substitute material and the liquid source being in communication with the vacuum source. A valve assembly also forms part of the system, the valve assembly having a valve movable between a first position in which a first fluid passageway is created between the source of bone-graft or bone-graft-substitute material and the vacuum, and a second position in which a second fluid passageway is created between the source of bone-graft or bone-graft-substitute material and the liquid source, wherein, in the second position, the valve seals off the first fluid passageway, the vacuum source being adapted to generate a negative-pressure environment, relative to atmospheric pressure, within the valve assembly while the valve is in the first position. Methods of utilizing the aforementioned system are also disclosed.

A detergent dispenser controller for use with a washing device, such as a dishwasher, that measures detergent concentration in a water tank by measuring the conductivity of the detergent solution in the water tank. The detergent controller automatically learns the feed rate of the detergent dispenser used, regardless of the type of detergent dispenser being used. For each detergent feed cycle, the controller computes a Feed Factor equal to the amount of detergent feed on time required for each unit increase in the detergent concentration, which is the inverse of the detergent feed rate. The controller stores the computed Feed Factor for the last N feed cycles in a non-volatile memory, and computes a running average of the N feed factors stored in the non-volatile memory. Whenever the detergent dispenser is powered on, it determines the difference between the measured wash tank detergent concentration and a specified detergent concentration set point value. The computed average feed factor and the difference between the set point and the current detergent concentration are multiplied to compute a detergent feed on time. The detergent dispenser is then turned on for the computed feed on time, and after a suitable subsequent mixing period, the change in detergent concentration during the last feed cycle is determined and a new Feed Factor is computed and stored. The detergent concentration is preferably measured using logarithmic measurement units, and separate Feed Factors may be computed and used for at least two detergent concentration ranges.

A set of damper vanes extends in the mixing passage and has a mixing position for mixing the flue gases from the inlet passages to supply mixed gas to the outlet passage at relatively high pressure drop but lower temperature if one of the absorbers in not operating. This invention relates to an improved injector/valve combination which permits nearly immediate response time to an actuator signal. Such a combination is particularly suited for injecting colorants into polyurethane slabstock foam and permits a substantial reduction in foam waste due to low colorations during an on/off cycle. Specifically, this invention combination comprises a novel ball valve which allows for instantaneous shut-off and -on without appreciable leakage or pressure drop and without the need to utilize a high throughput flow rate. Such a ball valve is used in combination with an injector which is actually attached to the valve, the configuration which permits continuous use and instantaneous on/off without a deleterious pressure drop and minimizes the possibility of turbulence as the liquid polymeric colorant flows through the injector. The ball valve, the attached injector configuration, the coloring apparatus comprising the inventive ball valve and/or the attached injector configuration, and the slabstock foam colored through the utilization of such an apparatus are also contemplated within this invention.

A fluid circuit for a cleaning device having a mixture with separate water and cleaning fluid inlets and fittings interconnecting a pressurized source of water and a pressurized source of cleaning fluid responsive to change the mixing ratio of cleaning fluid to water as well as to assure the degree of mixing. The outlet of the mixing device is provided to a spray nozzle wherein the mixed fluid is projected onto a cleaning surface by an air stream through the spray nozzle. A common pump provides two levels of air pressure, a high one to the spray nozzle and a lower one to the pressurized sources of water and cleaning fluid.

INVENTOR: ERNST BL?TTLER INVENTION: ELECTRICALLY CONTROLLED FLUID MIXING FIXTURE, ESPECIALLY FOR MIXING HOT AND COLD WATER ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In the fluid mixing fixture, a displacement body and a tubular shell, which coaxially encloses the displacement body, are arranged at an inflow element. A temperature measuring element, such as a nickel wire which is covered by a plastic jacket, is wound around the tubular shell at the region of an annular gap formed between the displacement body and the tubular shell. Hot water and cold water flow through inflow openings of the inflow element and into a recess or chamber thereof, at that location the hot water and cold water are admixed and then the admixed water flows through the annular gap to an outflow opening. Since the flow cross-sectional area of the annular gap is smaller than the inflow cross-sectional area of the inflow openings the velocity of the admixed water is increased. This promotes further, admixing of the hot and cold water and enhances heat transfer to the tubular shell. A radial temperature gradient cannot develop in the annular gap, so that the temperature of the water can be measured extremely accurately. Measurement of the water temperature is accomplished very close to the location of intermixing of the hot and cold water, allowing exceedingly rapid detection of changes in the temperature of the admixed water.
