Disclosed is a method for measuring the basal artery index along with a system therefor. A method for measuring the basal artery index according to an embodiment of the present invention includes the steps of establishing a reference line of the basal artery in an image of the basal artery, selecting a point where the angulation of the basal artery is greatest, and calculating the basal artery index based on the reference line and the point. By this means, the geometrical characteristics of the basal artery are quantified as various indexes to be measured so as to make it easy to understand the form and characteristics of the basal artery as a cause of a brain stem infarction, which is applied to predict the risk and to discover the position of blood vessel atherosclerosis, thus being widely applied to treatment, prevention, and clinical and basic research.
