Cathodoluminescence performed in the scanning electron microscope brings the advantage of localized excitation of individual microscopic structures. When luminescent structures are characterized, the intensity, wavelength, polarization and angular emission of the luminescence are all of interest. The invention provides an apparatus for determining the angular distribution of the radiated light, and in particular provides the user with rotational symmetry which is essential for the principle of measurement. Many mobile devices are used for documenting different scenarios that are encountered by the users as they go about their daily lives. In many situations, a mobile device may be used to document the scenario. This data may be of significant forensic interest to an investigator. In many situations, the owner of the phone may be willing to provide the investigator access to this data (through a documented consent agreement). Such consent is usually contingent upon the fact that not all the data available on the phone may be extracted for analysis, either due to privacy concerns or due to personal reasons. Courts have also opined in several cases that investigators must limit data extracted, so as to focus on only “relevant information” for the investigation at hand. Thus, only selective (or filtered) data should be extracted as per the consent available from the witness/victim (user). Described herein is the design and implementation of such a targeted data extraction system (TDES) for mobile devices. The TDES assumes consent of the user and implements state of the art filtering using machine learning techniques. This system can be used to identify and extract selected data from smart phones, in real time at the scene of the crime. 1. The present invention relates to an imaging device with a thermal imaging surveillance capability for safety, security and situational awareness. Closed circuit television systems (CCTV) are usually supported on drive and actuating mechanisms so that their active imaging portions are housed in a protective environment in a transparent dome. The ultra-light railway stick weighs less than 5 pounds and is made of carbon fiber as well as ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene. The ultra-light railway stick has a head portion generally shaped like an axe as well as a body that is hexagonal and may be covered in reflective strips. 1. A brake stick device comprising:a rigid tubular body with a first end and a second end;an engagable member located between the first end and second end; anda head portion fixedly attached to the first end of the body; wherein the head portion comprises a first side, a second side opposite the first side, a first end, a second end opposite the first side, a top side, a bottom side opposite the top side, a bulbous portion proximate the first side, wherein the head portion is adapted to interface with a brake wheel on a locomotive.2. A thermal imaging surveillance system comprises a thermal imager 1 manoeuvrable on a pan and tilt mechanism and mounted in a hermetically-sealed housing 5. An opaque dome end portion 2 is formed from an infra-red (IR) transmitting material. The housing 5 may be cylindrical and made of stainless steel, aluminium or carbon fibre, to which the opaque dome end portion 2 is fitted and sealed using nitrile 0-rings. The device is designed to be used in marine environments where the hermetically sealed housing prevents moisture ingress and salt damage. Optionally, gyroscope motion stabilisers may stabilise the pan and tilt mechanism, when supported on a gimbal, to compensate for unwanted motion. The thermal infrared camera 1 may have a zoom lens and automatic temperature-dependent focus control. The device may automatically track target subjects, and a joystick play be used for remote control.

The present invention relates to an imaging device with a thermal imaging surveillance capability for safety, security and situational awareness. Closed circuit television systems (CCTV) are usually supported on drive and actuating mechanisms so that their active imaging portions are housed in a protective environment in a transparent dome. Existing thermal imaging devices are used in fixed configurations or on platforms and are bulky and expensive. In addition they are unsuitable for harsh marine environments. The invention is an imaging device and comprises: a thermal imager, which in use is housed within a sealed housing. A pan and tilt mechanism is supported in the housing for displacing the thermal imager. A dome, formed from an infra-red (IR) transmitting material, covers and seals the housing (which is ideally filled with an inert gas) thereby resulting in an arrangement that is resistant to exposure to water and salt and so provides an imager suitable for marine environments, as well resulting in an overall reduction in size of the imager compared with exposed pan and tilt mechanisms.

A high temperature hybrid-circuit structure includes a temperature sensitive device which comprises SiC, AlN and/or Al x Ga 1−x N(x>0.69) connected by electrodes to an electrically conductive mounting layer that is physically bonded to an AlN die. The die, temperature sensitive device and mounting layer (which can be W, WC or W 2 C) have temperature coefficients of expansion within 1.06 of each other. The mounting layer can consist entirely of a W, WC or W 2 C adhesive layer, or an adhesive layer with an overlay metallization having a thermal coefficient of expansion not greater than about 3.5 times that of the adhesive layer. The device can be encapsulated with a reacted borosilicate mixture, with or without an upper die which helps to hold on lead wires and increases structural integrity. Applications include temperature sensors, pressure sensors, chemical sensors, and high temperature and high power electronic circuits.

This permits the CVD growth of physically uniform layers, both in terms of thickness and composition, having low contamination concentrations over large substrate surface areas.

Many mobile devices are used for documenting different scenarios that are encountered by the users as they go about their daily lives. In many situations, a mobile device may be used to document the scenario. This data may be of significant forensic interest to an investigator. In many situations, the owner of the phone may be willing to provide the investigator access to this data (through a documented consent agreement). Such consent is usually contingent upon the fact that not all the data available on the phone may be extracted for analysis, either due to privacy concerns or due to personal reasons. Courts have also opined in several cases that investigators must limit data extracted, so as to focus on only “relevant information” for the investigation at hand. Thus, only selective (or filtered) data should be extracted as per the consent available from the witness/victim (user). Described herein is the design and implementation of such a targeted data extraction system (TDES) for mobile devices. The TDES assumes consent of the user and implements state of the art filtering using machine learning techniques. This system can be used to identify and extract selected data from smart phones, in real time at the scene of the crime.

RAILROAD TANK CAR ABSTRACT Disclosed is a container for a plurality of non-compatible liquids, the container comprising a generally cylindrical tank having a generally horizontal longitudinal axis. A flexible diaphragm is in the tank, the periphery of the diaphragm contacting the wall of the tank in a generally vertical plane which generally bisects the tank. The diaphragm alternately lies against opposite portions of the tank so as to define different chambers for such non-compatible liquids. Means are provided for sealing the diaphragm against the wall, and means are provided for filling the chambers with liquid. The means for filing the chambers comprise a pair of liquid inlet conduits extending upwardly from the upper portion of the tank, the inlet conduits being located on opposite sides of the plane. Each inlet conduit communicates with a chamber inside of the tank on a different side of the diaphragm. A movable lid closes each of the inlet conduits and means are provided for automatically venting both of the conduits to the atmosphere whenever either of the conduits is opened, whereby the chambers on both sides of the diaphragm are vented to the atmosphere whenever either chamber is filled with liquid.

The first drive oper-ates to a second drive mounted on the main travel board and connected to the sub-travel board. The speed of movement of the first drive depends on the angular position of the speed control bar relative to the longitudinal path of movement of the main travel board and the speed of the main travel board. The first drive also rotates a wheel. The wheel is used with the main travel board to change the linear image to an arcuate image. The mask has a second tapered exposure window that diverges away from the axis of rotation of the wheel to pro-vide an even light exposure along the length of the exposure line. The mask with the tapered exposure window is used when the wheel and main travel board are used to make an arcuate image.

The glass is preferably 30-50% B 2 O 3 /70-50% SiO 2 , formed by reacting a mixed powder, slurry or paste of the components at 460°-1000° C. preferably about 700° C. The die can be mounted on the ceramic substrate using the BSG as an adhesive. Metal conductors on the ceramic substrate are also protected by the BSG. The preferred ceramic substrate is AlN but SiC/AlN or Al 2 O 3 can be used.

A system is provided that is useful for a hypodermic jet injection of medication without piercing the skin with a needle. The system includes a spring actuated needleless hypodermic injector device (26) for injecting medication through the skin. The injector device includes an ampule assembly (2') having a chamber for holding liquid medication and an injector for receiving and mounting the ampule assembly. A plunger assembly (202), movable within the ampule chamber is used for drawing liquid medication into the ampule chamber and for ejecting liquid medication out from a chamber. The injector includes a spring actuated piston (230) which provides a force to move the ampule assembly plunger and thereby force liquid medication to leave the chamber at such velocity that it can be hypodermically injected at an injection site. The system also includes a coupler for use on a medication vial for transferring medication to the ampule assembly.

A needleless injector device (20) includes an integral unit (24) that is dimensioned and arranged to be grasped in the hand of a user, loaded with a selected dosage, and held proximate the skin in order to inject the selected dosage in a high pressure jet sufficient to pass the selected dosage through the skin for injection purposes, the unit having a barrel portion (25), a gas storage portion (26), and an intermediate portion (27). A trigger (39) operates a release mechanism to release compressed gas from a storeage compartment (31) to act upon a piston (33) and drive a plunger (35) that ejects the selected dosage of medication through an aperture (30) in the discharge end of the barrel portion, the piston face being larger than the plunger face to increase pressure. A dose dispenser combines with the injection device in a system adapted for use with an insulin or other conventional vial (57) and the dose dispenser may include a vial adapter (21) or the combination of a vial coupler and a transporter/loader device (22) designed to pierce the self-sealing lid on the vial and to facilitate more precise dosage transfers.

Safety plug for sealing bus bar end connections

A sealed covering for exposed portions of electrical wires 55 at an 'end of a protective tube 51, which houses a bus bar 52. A cover shield 60 has a first geometric shape. A plug 10 has two opposing hinged shells forming, in a closed configuration, the first geometric shape at a proximate end 16 and the second geometric shape at a distal end 20. The opposing hinged shells when closed define a cavity 14 for receiving a cable 55, and a flange 16 at the proximate end 16 for receiving said cover shield 60. A fastener 26 is provided at the proximate end 16 of the plug constructed so as to mate 62 with the cover shield 60. The shield is slipped down over the bus bar conduit tube to expose the bus bar end connector. The cable wire lug end is then connected to the bus bar. The cover shield is then slipped up to cover the bus bar end connector and attached cable wire. The end plug device is fitted around the cable and pushed into the cover shield and snapped into place by means of the male button 26 that fits into a mating female hole 62 in the cover shield 60.

A second tapered window (128) on mask (116, 117) diverges from axis of rotation of wheel providing even light exposure along length of exposure line, when wheel and main travel board are used to make an arcuate image.

A high temperature hybrid-circuit structure includes a temperature sensitive device which comprises SiC, AlN and/or Al x Ga 1−x N(x>0.69) connected by electrodes to an electrically conductive mounting layer that is physically bonded to an AlN die. The die, temperature sensitive device and mounting layer (which can be W, WC or W 2 C) have temperature coefficients of expansion within 1.06 of each other. The mounting layer can consist entirely of a W, WC or W 2 C adhesive layer, or an adhesive layer with an overlay metallization having a thermal coefficient of expansion not greater than about 3.5 times that of the adhesive layer. The device can be encapsulated with a reacted borosilicate mixture, with or without an upper die which helps to hold on lead wires and increases structural integrity. Applications include temperature sensors, pressure sensors, chemical sensors, and high temperature and high power electronic circuits.

An axially separable fastener for securing a structure is provided to detach upon command of an electric signal. The fastener includes a metal bolt, an external nut, a frangible ampoule containing a liquid metal eutectic and an internal plug. The bolt has a metal shank with proximal and distal ends. The shank includes a first head at the proximal end, and a first helical external thread and an axial bore with a first helical internal thread at the distal end. The fastener secures a structure in compression between the first head and the external nut. The external nut screws onto the first external thread. The ampoule contains a liquid metal eutectic. The ampoule is insertable into the bore. The internal plug includes a second head, an actuator mechanism, and an auger opposite thereto. The internal plug has a second helical external thread between the second head and the auger for screwing into the bore along the first internal thread. Upon receipt of the signal, the internal plug axially drives the auger towards the proximal end into the ampoule to release the eutectic, thereby fracturing the bolt.
