Security and mobility overlay architecture (SAMOA) includes security management and secure transport functions for fixed or mobile security subscriber units (SSUs). SSUs within SAMOA are authenticated, authorized, and provided with shared session keys by the security management function. The keys allow each SSU to communicate with the secure transport network, which provides secure connections to other SSUs. Because shared-key, rather than public-key session keys are preferably used, the problems associated with public-key certificate authorities and hierarchies are avoided. The security management function and the secure transport network can be layered efficiently on top of existing Internet protocol (IP) networks and are thus applicable to a wide range of systems that support IP, including 3G wireless, wireless LANs (e.g., 802.11x), wired LANs, and dial-up networks.

Many mobile devices are used for documenting different scenarios that are encountered by the users as they go about their daily lives. In many situations, a mobile device may be used to document the scenario. This data may be of significant forensic interest to an investigator. In many situations, the owner of the phone may be willing to provide the investigator access to this data (through a documented consent agreement). Such consent is usually contingent upon the fact that not all the data available on the phone may be extracted for analysis, either due to privacy concerns or due to personal reasons. Courts have also opined in several cases that investigators must limit data extracted, so as to focus on only “relevant information” for the investigation at hand. Thus, only selective (or filtered) data should be extracted as per the consent available from the witness/victim (user). Described herein is the design and implementation of such a targeted data extraction system (TDES) for mobile devices. The TDES assumes consent of the user and implements state of the art filtering using machine learning techniques. This system can be used to identify and extract selected data from smart phones, in real time at the scene of the crime.

In many situations, a mobile device may be used to document the scenario. This data may be of significant forensic interest to an investigator. In many situations, the owner of the phone may be willing to provide the investigator access to this data (through a documented consent agreement). Such consent is usually contingent upon the fact that not all the data available on the phone may be extracted for analysis, either due to privacy concerns or due to personal reasons. Courts have also opined in several cases that investigators must limit data extracted, so as to focus on only “relevant information” for the investigation at hand. Thus, only selective (or filtered) data should be extracted as per the consent available from the witness/victim (user). Described herein is the design and implementation of such a targeted data extraction system (TDES) for mobile devices. The TDES assumes consent of the user and implements state of the art filtering using machine learning techniques. This system can be used to identify and extract selected data from smart phones, in real time at the scene of the crime. 1. A tracking circuit has first and second filters controlled by clock signals and a combiner. Each filter has N paths in parallel between an input and an output, each path comprising a respective first/second sub-circuit and a switch (N is an integer >1). The clock signals selectively control each of the N switches of the first and second filters at a same frequency, and in variously described embodiments the first and second on-time durations may be different, the first and second sub-circuits may be different, or both first/second on-time durations and first/second sub-circuits may be different. Signals output from the first and second filter are added at a combiner. In certain examples each path in the first and second filter is controlled by same-phase clock signals, and every path on either filter are controlled with different-phase clock signals.

A system for analyzing and modifying passwords in a manner that provides a user with a strong and usable/memorable password. The user would propose a password that has relevance and can be remembered. The invention would evaluate the password to ascertain its strength. The evaluation is based on a probabilistic password cracking system that is trained on sets of revealed passwords and that can generate password guesses in highest probability order. If the user's proposed password is strong enough, the proposed password is accepted. If the user's proposed password is not strong enough, the system will reject it. If the proposed password is rejected, the system modifies the password and suggests one or more stronger passwords. The modified passwords would have limited modifications to the proposed password. Thus, the user has a tested strong and memorable password.
