The material to be atomised 9 is placed in the vessel 8 and a supply of compressed gas 1 used to produce high velocity jets (4, Fig 1). The holes are placed and sized to form jets which interact with each other to create high levels of turbulence which produce energetic mixing, droplet formation, fluidisation or reactions. Unlike atomisers which require a dip leg tube, the design is non fouling because no liquid passes through the small holes and can therefore be used to atomise liquids containing solids such as crystals or powders as well as clean liquids. In combustion applications the invention produces intense secondary mixing eliminating the need for pre-mixing of combustion gases.

An apparatus for cleaning the air from a paint spray booth by removing paint particles entrained therein in which water flows across downwardly converging bottoms walls of the booth through a nozzle extending substantially the entire length of the booth to prevent paint from adhering to them. To improve efficiency and insure the water prevents adherence of paint particles, the nozzle has a rounded entry. The water is atomized and mixed with the paint particles in a restricted section of the nozzle which is connected to the entry by ledges which direct the water across the inlet of the restricted section to improve atomization and mixing of the water and to minimize the noise produced by the operation of the nozzle. The mixture is discharged from this nozzle through a restricted orifice at a high velocity to impinge on a pool of water below the nozzle which separates and removes particles of paint from the air.

An apparatus for rinsing inverted chemical containers includes two main assemblies, namely a gravity flow valve assembly and a rinse adapter assembly. The gravity flow assembly is inserted into the throat of the container. The rinse adapter assembly is detachably secured to the throat of the inverted container. When the rinse adapter assembly is attached to the throat of the container, the rinse tube of the rinse adapter assembly extends upwardly through the gravity flow valve assembly and into the interior of the container. Rinsing fluid, such as water, is supplied to the rinse tube which sprays the rinsing fluid onto the interior of the container to rinse the chemical residue from the interior of the container. A method for a coating system for coating components , comprising:a) conveying the components to be coated in a conveying direction through a coating booth;b) coating the components in the coating booth with a coating agent, a portion of the applied coating agent being deposited on the components to be coated, while another portion of the applied coating agent initially floats in the booth interior of the coating booth as overspray,c) reducing the overspray from the booth interior by a downwardly directed air flow which is spatially limited and does not include the entire booth interior, the air flow generated by means of a blowing nozzle arrangement which delivers the air flow downwards through at least one blowing nozzle in order to blow the overspray downwards out of the booth interior, the blowing nozzle arrangement arranged above the conveyor and extending through the coating booth transversely to the conveying direction.38. The gas supply supplies an atmosphere adjustment gas to a space between the substrate holder and the top plate. The processing liquid nozzle ejects a liquid to the substrate. The arm holds the processing liquid nozzle and moves the processing liquid nozzle between a processing position where the processing liquid is ejected from the processing liquid nozzle through the through hole and a standby position outside the substrate. 1. Apparatus for preventing build-up of sealing compound at the outlet of an intermittently operated sealing compound ejecting nozzle. In the device, a stream of air is directed towards the outlet of the nozzle from a suitable air outlet, and a solvent is injected into the air stream at a point upstream from the air outlet, the air outlet being located at a distance from the nozzle such that turbulence of the air stream occurs in the area of the nozzle. The rate of supply of solvent to the air stream is such as to produce an atmosphere saturated with solvent in the turbulent area. This prevents evaporation of solvent from the sealing compound and hence prevents the sealing compound building up at the outlet of the nozzle.
