The shape memory yarns are formed into coils that provide a high degree of actuation or elasticity along an axis of the coiled shape memory yarn, and may have relatively low porosity, low rigidity, and/or low change of volume compared to shape memory coils formed from solid structures. Coiled shape memory yarns may provide further tailorability of a superelastic or shape memory response of a system or device incorporating the coiled shape memory yarns through various coil parameters, such as coil pitch or density, or torque balancing, such as heat treating or plying the coiled shape memory yarns.

A method of weaving industrial textiles to a single warp platform, and textiles made thereby. The method comprises identifying optimal fabric characteristics for selected uses to determine groups of suitable fabrics; selecting a first group, identifying fabric properties for optimal characteristics, and identifying optimal properties for warp yarns to be used for all fabrics in the group; selecting a structure type and weave design for each fabric of the group; providing a loom with selected shedding options and installing warp yarns having the identified optimal properties. Thereafter, each fabric in the group can be woven without changing the warp yarns, simply by identifying properties for weft yarns to correspond with the weave design of the respective fabric, setting the loom accordingly and weaving the fabrics as required, adjusting only the weft parameters between successive fabrics, resulting in increased efficiency of manufacturing and avoiding time consuming warp changes between fabrics.

In particular, an intermediate curve 11 is such that, by choosing for a given metric count a number of windings proximate to curve 11 , this best feature balance is obtained. In an exemplary embodiment, the core comprises a bare elastic thread, i.e. an elastic thread that is not coated by other fibres. In another exemplary embodiment, the core comprises an elastic thread coated with a natural fibre as cotton or viscose, or with a combination thereof. The elastic thread yarn according to the invention provides elasticized fabrics containing linen and/or on ramié, which has, in particular, a better surface regularity than well-known elasticized fabrics comprising linen, and which is comparable with the regularity of the elasticized fabrics comprising natural fibres such as cotton, wool, etc. and synthetic fibres, and also allows using ramie and hemp yarns to make elastic thread yarns and fabrics, for example, for making cloth items.

Номер: US20170080678A1
Принадлежит: Honeywell International Inc

Low porosity fibrous materials, articles formed therefrom and processes for their formation. Multiple plies of high tenacity, multifilament elongate bodies are optionally stitched together and pressed as a set without being laminated, adhered or thermally fused to each other. Pressing spreads the component filaments of the elongate bodies, forcing the filaments to occupy spaces between adjacent fibers and thereby reducing porosity of the complete multi-ply material.
