A process for the preparation of a composite material from a particulate binder material having an average particle size (D9 0) of from 15 to 850 pm and a fibrous material having a density of from 150 to 550 kg/m3, comprising the steps of: a) blending the particulate binder material and the fibrous material, preferably in a weight ratio of 60:40 to 10:90, and b) subjecting the blended material obtained in a) to a curing step under increased temperature and pressure to obtain a composite material. The load-bearing stud includes a plurality of woven burlap layers impregnated with a magnesium oxide resin. The load-bearing stud is formed by creasing a woven burlap sheet to form multiple foldable panels, wetting the foldable panels with a curable resin, layering the foldable panels to achieve a multi-layered prepreg, pressing the multi-layered prepreg to distribute the resin therethrough, compacting the multi-layered prepreg within a mold cavity having the exterior shape of the load-bearing stud, and curing the multi-layered prepreg, wherein the resin includes a mixture of mono-potassium phosphate and magnesium oxide. The load-bearing stud provides a lightweight, dimensionally stable, and environmentally-friendly composite structure to replace lumber studs and metal studs in building constructions. 1. Products and methods for constructing mass timber structures in multi-story configurations using long strand timber (LST) engineered wood products. Structural LST panels of predetermined dimensions are fabricated using LST manufacturing methods, typically involving steam pressing a billet of scrimber material that includes treatment materials and bonding material. The long strands of the material used in the panels are oriented vertically for improved load bearing capacity. The panels are sized for shipment to a job site. Prior to shipment, a plurality of panels are pre-processed by cutting openings for windows, doors, tongues, and grooves at a fabrication plant. The claimed wall panel can be used in the construction of ground-based low-rise buildings. The aim of the invention includes: low panel weight, easy assembly, environmental safety, vapour permeability, and good thermal, strength and sound-insulating properties. These characteristics are achieved by the use of cellulose heat insulation and wooden load-bearing members made from softwood and E1 grade plywood (i.e. interior plywood). The vertically continuous panel design shown in figure 13 allows for the construction of an attic, with the load being transmitted from the rafter system directly to a cantilever shelf of the panel without the need for additional purlins, posts and walls to hold up the rafters. Interior walls and partitions can be mounted at any point on the panel and are fastened to reinforcing ribs formed by a reinforced triangular ledge and a diaphragm. Linear shrinkage of the insulation is limited by placing the insulation in cells of limited dimensions. In addition, the arrangement of the diaphragms prevents the formation of through air spaces as a result of shrinkage of the insulation. Groove-type connecting elements are assembled in accordance with the floor levels and the fastening of the rafter system to the wall.
