Collapsible threading device
Реферат: 548,303. Collapsable taps. LANDIS MACHINE CO. March 26, 1941, No. 4084. Convention date, April 3, 1940. [Class 83 (iii)] Collapsable taps of the type described in U.S.A. Specification 2,028,075 are provided with improved tripping and resetting mechanism. The cam core 13 is adjustably located with respect to a plunger 18 by means of a screw 20 having a serrated head co-operating with a correspondingly located spring plunger 21 held from rotation by a pin 40. A key socket 41 provides for adjustment the serrations being such as to permit this but prevent accidental rotation. A tension spring 50 connects the plunger 18 to a screw-adjusted nut 52 in such manner that the tension is adjustable. A latch 23 pivoted on a cross pin 24 in the body 10 has a locking surface 23b concentric with the pin and engaging a complemental surface 25a on a reversible latch plate 25b. The plunger has slots 64 to clear the pin 24. The movement of the latch prior to the time of disengagement does not affect the setting of the chasers and production of unwanted taper threads is avoided. The set position of the latch is determined by an abutment 23c and a spring-controlled key 31 with rack teeth engages a toothed segment 23a to maintain the latch in operative position and return it to this position whenever permitted. Release of the chasers is effected by a sliding sleeve 26 that, in the case of a rotary tap, is yoke operated at 60. The sleeve carries the key 31 with lost motion permitted by slots 27a, 33a and opposed by the spring 32. A cross pin 36 carried by the sleeve passes through slots in the body and engages the plunger 18 by a slot permitting limited lost motion. On the opening movement the abutment 23b is held clear of the surface 25b to reduce wear. On reversal of the sleeve to reset the tap the spring 32 is first compressed bringing the abutment thereon on to the surface ready to snap into locking position after the plunger has been returned by the pin 36.
