Heating by electricity.-A water-heater comprises a rhomboidal casing 16, a series of upwardly inclined spaced parallel envelopes 17 thereon containing electric heating elements 21 and narrow water passages 19 between the envelopes connected at their lower and upper ends to supply and discharge pipes 7, 8. The envelopes and passages are formed from a single looped and shaped sheet of metal 18. The heater may be arranged in an outer casing 15 enclosing portions of the supply and discharge pipes formed with elongated openings registering with holes 32, 33 in the casing. Corrugated plates 19<a> are fitted in the water passages. The heater is connected to a cistern 4 fitted with a ball-float valve and a water-cooled seal 37. The pipe 8 is fitted with a non-return valve 10 and a hot-water tap 9.
