Tyres, pneumatic; hubs; lubricating.-Relates to motor and other cycles, and consists inter alia of improvements in oil caps, dust caps of tyre valves, and means for locking the axle to the hubs. Fig. 5 shows one form of oil-hole cap. A slot a<1> is made in the hub A, and to this is applied a fitting in which is pivoted a partly circular dust plate a<7> provided with a handle a<8>. This plate serves to cover the slot a'. The plate a' has a flattened portion so that, by turning the plate, the slot a' may be partly uncovered for oiling purposes. The axle B or cone b<1> has notches b<2>, and by turning the plate a<7> it may be brought into engagement with the axle, thereby locking it in position. Modifications in the shape of the fitting and the dustplate are described. Fig. 6 shows a method of retaining dust caps on the valves of pneumatic tyres. A piece of rubber &c. C is connected by side pieces C<2> to the retaining-ring C', which presses over the valve. The dust cap is formed in one with the sides, or a hole may be formed in the rubber to retain the usual metal cap. Other forms are described, in which the cap may be secured to one end or to the centre of a rubber, leather, celluloid, &c. piece, or the cap may be attached to the rubber &c. piece by a chain or cord.
