Tyres, pneumatic ;felloes or rims. -The air chambers of a sectional pneumatic tyre are connected by flexible or other tubes in sets or series, the chambers of one series alternating with those of the others so that, in case of deflation of one series, the alternate ones support the load. Fig. 1 shows an arrangement in which the chambers a are arranged in sets of five connected by flexible tubes f and screwed nipples m, each set being inflated through a common valve g. The adjacent ends of the chambers may abut, overlap, or be formed to engage by tongue-and-groove connexions. An onter solid tread o, Fig. 3, continuous or otherwise, and with or without moulded rubber tread studs, may be fitted and secured by flanges c, one or both of which may be detachable and formed in segments if desired. To prevent abrasion of the tyre segments, the rim flanges may be lined with rubber q. In a modification,. the segments are arranged inside an ordinary tyre cover. The air chambers may be formed with a thickened tread of rubber, or of rubber and canvas.
