Ion exchange membranes for electrolysis cells - of poly:fluoroolefin film and asbestos fibres impregnated with (meth)acrylic! acid copolymer
Реферат: Ion exchange membranes, esp. for use in the electrolysis of saline solns., are comprised of a polyfluoroolefin film and asbestos fibres impregnated with a copolymer of (meth)acrylic acid and >=1 other non-ionic monomer contg. >=1 >C=CH2 gp. Pref. membranes consist of a homo- or copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene or perfluoropropylene and chrysotile asbestos fibres 0.5 mm - 5 cm long, esp. 1 mm - 2 cm long, in a wt. ratio polyfluoroolefin + asbestos to the whole membrane of 20-60%, esp. 25-40%. The membrane is pref. in the form of a microporous membrane with pores of 0.1-12 mu, esp. 0.2-6 mu dia. filled with the (meth)acrylic acid copolymer. The membranes have excellent corrosion resistance and give a high electrical yield in NaCl electrolysis cells, whilst giving NaOH with a low chloride content.
