Improvements in manifolding apparatus for typewriting machines

In an auxiliary stationery and carbon-sheet carrying attachment adapted to be coupled to a standard typewriter carriage, wherein the webs of stationery are threaded between carbon sheets which are secured at the edges to a main sheet provided with a loop at one end to receive a control member in the form of a bar, the portions 18 between which the carbon assembly slides are adjustable and provided with abutments 30 at their forward ends which arrest the forward movement of the assembly at a predetermined position in relation to the typewriter. so that the webs, after a typing operation, can be pulled through the carbon sheets for the next typing operation. The parts 18, which carry supporting rods 23, 24 and adjustable guides 25 for the webs, are slotted at 19 and secured in an adjustable manner to uprights 7a by means of a rod 20 which passes through the uprights and the slots to receive nuts 21. The uprights 7a are similarly secured for vertical adjustment to bars 7 by the rod 15 and nuts 16. The bars 7 are slidably and rotatably mounted on a fixed shaft 6 by means of an antifriction bearing 8 as described in Specification 584,483. The shaft 6 is carried by a part 5 of a clamp 2 mounted on a baseplate 1. The rear part of the typewriter is placed between members 3 of the clamp 2 and secured by screws 4. The upper ends of the bars 7 are connected by a rod 9 having a parallel part 10, and a roller lying between the rods 9, 10 and carried by member 12 extending from the clamp 2 is the sole means for holding the auxiliary attachment against rotation about the shaft 6. The auxiliary attachment is moved by the typewriter carriage by means of an arm on the carriage which carries an adjustable rod the other end of which engages the slot 36a in a member 36 secured on an extension of the rod 9. A tray 45 for the webs of stationery is provided with adjustable side guides 48.
