Реферат: 747,155. Wheel and brake assembly. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. June 4, 1954 [June 19, 1953; June 19, 1953], No. 18655/54. Classes 103 (1), 144 (1) and 144 (2). In a wheel and brake assembly for a motor vehicle, the wheel 30 carries a brake drum 40 removable from its outer side and enclosing the brake mechanism, which is mounted on a non-rotatable axle 10, the wheel 30 having a hub 12 rotatably mounted on the axle and connected to a rim portion 100, which the brake drum engages at peripherally spaced positions, such as the lands 76, in Figs 2 and 4. Fluid to operate the brake shoe actuators is transmitted thereto through passages 47, 48 in the axle, the passages 27, 28 being for the supply of lubricating oil in the space between the oil seals 25 and 26 which contains the bearings 18 and 19. Holes 102, 103, 104 and 105 in the wheel spokes 13 and brake drum mounting part 100 provide for centrifugal circulation of cooling air. A hub cap 64 is secured by nuts 82 to a spider plate 43 mounted on the hub 49 which is secured on to the stub axle by a locking plate 81 and bolts 53. Fig. 7 relates to a further embodiment of the invention in which the brake drum is mounted within the outer of the two wheels of a twin wheel unit. the drum 35 being secured by bolts 39 to faces on the wheel rim 89 which also form a mounting for the tyre-receiving bases 100a and 100b spacedly secured thereon by means of a coned clamping ring 117, stud nuts 108 and a rigid spacer ring 119. Specification 747,156 is referred to.
