An arrangement for clearing fuel from a burner, e.g. of a gas turbine, before changing to an alternative fuel as for example from liquid fuel to gaseous fuel, includes passages 9, 15 through which fuel is delivered to the manifold 13 serving burners 14, by a pump 10 from a reservoir 11, and a passage 16 leading from an air reservoir 17 to the junction between passages 9, 15, the passages 9, 15, 16 including valves 20, 21, 19 respectively so that the fuel may be cut off and compressed air supplied to the passages to purge them of fuel by closing valve 20, and opening valve 19. The valves may be operated in sequence manually or by an electrical control device 22. The reservoir 17 is filled through a non-return valve 18 from the engine compressor or other source.
