A fully-fashioned stocking is made from a flat blank or blanks, knitted on a straight-bar machine or machines, comprising a leg including a calf portion, an ankle and an instep, all knitted entirely of nylon yarn, and heel sections or tabs, a foot bottom, or opposing sole sections and a fashioned toe, or top and bottom toe portions, which exclude nylon and are knitted wholly of another yarn spun from natural staple fibres of animal or vegetable origin, or from staple fibres of cellulose esters or regenerated cellulose. The nylon and other yarns may be of contrasting count and/or colour. The other yarn may be of natural silk, rayon, wool, or a cotton-silk mixture.
