[Class 135.] A control device for use in connection with steam or vapour heated digesters and the like comprises an electrically actuated supply valve controlled by a switch actuated by the pressure in the digester. The supply valve 13 co-operates with a seat 14 clamped between two parts of the casing and is closed against the action of a spring 19 by a solenoid 9 acting on a core 10. The solenoid is controlled by a switch 8 acting through a relay and comprising a counterbalanced lever 6 bent at one end 6b to dip in a mercury cup 7, and acted on at the other by a capsule 5 subject to the pressure in the digester 3 admitted through a pipe 4. A tubular member 11 connecting the valve and armature chambers is fitted with radiating fins 12a. According to the Provisional Specification the controlling switch may be actuated by an arm carried by a spring-loaded safety valve on the digester and the armature may be attached to a piston movable in a cylinder containing a quantity of water.
