Реферат: In vehicle body building the mudguards are often bolted to the body. A weatherstrip seal is inserted between them, especially in VW Beetles. Due to the shape of the connecting joint, unconducive to drainage and flow, water traps and dirt cracks are created, resulting in corrosion. A therefore desirable shape of the connecting joint, conducive to flow and drainage, can be subsequently obtained by a rounding-off profile section of sheet metal, as in Fig.2, which is welded on over this, or of glass fibre-reinforced plastic, which is bonded on. The junctions with body and mudguard are sealed without any projections. A rounding-off profile section of PVC etc., with a web which is wedged between mudguard and body so that the rounding-off profile section can be removed again, is also possible. This rounding-off profile section can also be alternatively bonded onto mudguard and body and therefore also sealed and painted over. The rounding-off profile section has applications mainly on VW Beetles. In addition to expedient rounding-off and sealing in repair of the connecting joint, simultaneous body tuning and hence visual modification and streamlining of the body constitutes another reason for its use. <IMAGE>
