Grates; fueleconomizers.-A false bottom for kitchen and l i k e grates, which may be fixed at various inclinations, c o n - sists of a grate f, Figs. 1 and 2, provided at the rear with lugs e carrying pins d which fit in slots c formed in the rear ends b of a triangular frame a under the grate. The grate is supported at various inclinations by a rack g pivoted to the front thereof, the teeth of which engage with the edge a<2> of the frame a. An extension a<1> on the frame a has holes a<3> adapted to receive a pin which may engage with the bars of the ordinary grate so as to prevent backward movement of the frame. A modification is shown in Fig. 3, in which the rack is pivoted to the front edge of the grate frame and has teeth formed on its inner edge.
