Spindle apparatus.- The spindle C is supported in a tapering socket in a step support B, in the shape of a frustum of a cone which has lateral contact, at its upper end, with the wall of the bolster case A. A slotted collar e rests on a shoulder f of the bolster case interior, and supports a bolster D which has a convex annular enlargement near its upper end in contact with the bolster case. Entering channels g, g<1>, in the bolster D and step B respec - tively, lead into circular cavities h, h<1>, into which pins a, a<1> project from the bolster case, and prevent rotation of the bolster D and step B. The bolster and step allow the spindle sufficient freedom of foot movement for any adjustment necessary to its perfect operation. The bolster D may rest directly on the shonlder f.
