Balls. - A golf ball is constructed with a resilient core a of rubber or similar material having one oi a plurality of grooves c formed on its surface and one or a plurality of holes b preferably passing through the centre of the core. The grooves may run in various directions or may be sinuous or may be contained in planes parallel to or at an angle to one another. In some cases, the core is made hollow, and, when a plurality of holes are made, the intersection of these holes forms the hollow. The core constructed in this manner is then wound with rubber ribbon f under tension as shown in Fig. 2, and this is followed by a second winding of rubber thread, and finally the usual outer coating of gutta-percha is applied.
