The bard-rubber tyre is moulded or otherwise formed in convenient lengths so that along its base are two recesses a for receiving the attaching- wires, which are then covered by two flaps b, bent over as shown in Fig. 1<a>, and secured in position by a canvas strip c or the like. The flaps b may Lutt-joint or overlap, and they may be of soft rubber, or an equivalent elastic packing-ring e may be placed between the tyre and rim d. Preferably the two attaching-bands are formed from one wire A, Fig. 10, which is passed along one recess a, bent across the tyre, and then passed through the other recess, the ends m being secured together, and to the other bent part n by a clip o or a corresponding hook-bolt or stud. Recesses g, Fig. 6, may be formed in the base of the tyre, and, preferably, these recesses are plugged with soft rubber or similar plugs h. The attaching-wires may be dispensed with and the sides of the rim may be splayed or undercut, as desired. Tyres, pneumatic.-The packing-ring c may be replaced by an inflatable air chamber.
