Improvements in the Construction of Drain Testing Plugs.
Реферат: 3607. Dale, R. Feb. 14. Slopping pipes and tubes.-Relates to an expansible plug for drain-testing by water pressure. A rubber ring H, having a curved part h at the back, passes round a flanged body A, B, C, D, and is secured by a plate I and a screw J. The parts A, B of the body are formed with recesses a, b in which fit segmental gluts C, D, and a screw is provided whereby the diameter of the body may be increased. The screw J is secured by a nut K and large washers, and the plate I is prevented from turning by a projection H which fits in an aperture L in the part B. When in position for use, the plate I is drawn in by a screw J so as to press against the part h and prevent water from escaping. When the test has been made, pressure is taken off the part h and water may escape through the apertures l. A spanner G for operating the adjusting screw consists of a piece of flat spring steel bent round the screw head and gripped by the fingers. According to the Provisional Specification, the plug may be of wood and have a shallow broad groove round its periphery to receive a thick rubber ring.
