Lamp and gas brackets; gaseliers. - In a bracket or fitting in which lamps, tools, &c. are carried at the free ends of a series of arms, so mounted on a central member that the articles can be turned towards or away from each other, the central member is constructed of a number of sections, which are threaded and secured upon a common rod and are shaped to support and permit the rotation of sleeves carrying the arms. Fig. 1 illustrates a support for electric lamps, suitable for use in the operating-theatres of bospitals. The telescopic &c. arms j, counterbalanced at n, are mounted uponsleeves i, which rotate between flanges h on cylinders e spaced upon the rod c by sleeves f, the rod being preferably of angular section to prevent the cylinders and sleeves from rotating thereon. The rod c, which may carry a lamp t, is connected to the pendant b by a cylindrical piece a. Each end of the fitting is closed by a cap u formed in two parts v, w. The leads for the lamp k can be passed either through the tubular arms j or the adapters s. In modification, the upper cylinder e is formed in one with the part a, the sleeves f are made thinner and fit loosely upon the rod c, and the connexion q is arranged upon the horizontal part of the arm.
