Spinning &c. machines with twist tubes and winding-on bobbins.-The rovings are led from cans and through rollers j to a twisting-apparatus consisting of a rotating tube a connected with an exhausting- apparatus and provided with a number of slits f beneath a projecting collar through which is a vertical slit h. The apparatus is started by drawing the thread x from the winding-on bobbin S, through the guides t and v and placing it in the slit h. On rotating the tube a, the fibres are detached from the roving as it is fed forward and become attached to the thread x, which is wound on the bobbin S. The process, having been once started, proceeds continuously, and if the thread breaks in the operation it is pieced by drawing the thread from the bobbin S and laying it in the slit h.
