[Class 8 (ii)] [See also Group IX] Vacuum apparatus for stripping carding - engines, comprises nozzles H J, Fig. 1, for the doffer D and main cylinder L combined in a unit that is fitted with a U-clip F which engages a sleeve or guide E, Fig. 4, slidably keyed on a shaft A parallel to the coarse pitch screw B which is formed with a wide helical groove to receive a finger pivoted to the sleeve E. The latter is slotted on its underside to receive a metal plate which projects into a keyway a on the shaft A and is formed with flanges e, e<1> to locate the U- clip F. The finger G is pivoted on the flange e<1> and is provided with a handle g for disengaging the operative end from the screw B. The nozzles H, J are clamped into a forked tubular fitting K to which the U-shaped clip F is pivoted, the arrangement facilitating removal of the nozzles for the grinding and burnishing operations.
