Реферат: Inert gas is e.g. nitrogen is applied at the lowest possible level around a stream of rising flames so that, from the foot of the flames upwards, the flames are surrounded and thus cut off from the outside air. The extinguishing gas supply, and the equipment used may be varied. USE/ADVANTAGE - Partic. for oil fires. No expensive equipment or large quantities of gas are needed. The system uses the flame energy to carry the agent to where it is most effective. The equipment can be kept in places liable to conflagrations, in particular in drilling rigs, but can be used for outbreaks anywhere, including houses, cars, aircraft, ships and rail wagons.
