Carton Forming Machine.
Реферат: 1,162,553. Making carbons. HASKON Inc. 13 Sept., 1966 [27 Sept., 1965]. No. 40833/66. Heading B5D. A machine for erecting flat tubular blanks into cartons ready for filling comprises a horizontal spindle 32 driven in stepped rotation carrying radial mandrels 50 past work stations; at station I, carbon blanks are erected and placed on the mandrel; at station II, the bottom flaps are pre-bent; at station III vertically below the rotational axis, the prebent bottom flaps are heated; at station IV the bottom flaps are sealed and the top flaps pre-bent; at station V the cartons are removed from the mandrel and inverted, and may be rotated through 90 degrees about their longitudinal axis, and then delivered to a synchronized filling and sealing machine; at station VI there is a micro-switch which if it detects the presence of any unremoved carton, stops the machine. Spindle drive and mandrels.-The spindle 32 is driven by an hydraulic motor through a speed reducer. The mandrels 50 (Fig. 5) are adjustable in length, and can accommodate small cross-section cartons, fingers (65) serving to pre-break the top flaps, or large section cartons which seat over a shoulder (58) and a larger end cap replacing cap (64), fingers (61) serving to pre-break the top flaps. Feeding blanks on to the mandrels.-Station I. Ram 90 advances head 88 when suction cups 85 then draw a blank from the stack at 22 past curved plate (80), Fig. 3, to erect it when ram (75) draws the opened blank on to the waiting mandrel. Prebending the bottom flaps.-Station II. Ram 127 advances fingers 130, 131 towards the carton on the mandrel 50, the fingers, together with fingers 158 then being constrained through cam and linkage mechanisms (Figs. 6 and 7) to move inwardly to prebend the bottom flaps in a predetermined sequence. Heating.-Station III (Fig. 9). The bottom flaps are heated by a gas burner (166) on a bracket (167) whose height can be adjusted by a clamp in slot 169. A tubular member (181) may be fitted to direct a supply of air inwards to centralize the heating effect. Bottom sealing and top pro-bending.-Station IV (Fig. 11). Rails, 185, Fig. 2, guide the heated bottom flaps to their closed position, whence a ram (195) presses a water cooled plate (196) against the end of the mandrel, sealing the bottom flaps, at the same time forcing the blank against fingers (65 or 71, Fig. 5) which with plates (207, 208) turned about axes (218) by rams (209, 210), pre-bend the top flaps. Carton removal and inversion.-Station V. The carton is removed from the mandrel by a suction cup (242, Figs. 13, 14), moved by a ram (275) along the mandrel axis, the cup (242) being rotated when necessary through 90 degrees about that axis by a cam (270) -driven rack (260) and pinion (256) when the carton is clear of the mandrel. The carton is then released, falls and engages a guide plate (290, Fig. 15) inverts, and slides down to a conveyer of the synchronized filling and sealing machine. The position of the guide plate (290) is adjusted to suit the size of carton being handled. Hydraulic and electrical control circuits (Figs. 17 and 18) are also described.
